Wikipedia’s mission is to create a full encyclopedia where people can freely share complete and accurate knowledge. However, when it comes to history, it’s often written by men. For men. And most often only include men. Actually, in Sweden - a country considered as a leader in gender equity – less than ten percent of the people mentioned in the main Wikipedia-article about Swedish history are women. This is what we wanted to change.
The Equal Edit is an initiative by Wikipedia, to equalize Swedish history on Wikipedia. And create the first history where remarkable men and women stand side by side and share the spotlight.
